The Klaus Schulze poll 2010

There is a poll on the Klaus Schulze web site. We are supposed to list our top 10 albums and top 10 individual tracks. We can either send by e-mail, or print out a sheet that kdm has prepared for us. I thought it was fun to print it out, write down the titles by hand and send it by regular mail. So today I was at the post office to send my votes to kdm. ;-)

With Klaus Schulze's immense catalog it is extremely hard to choose favourites, but I did my best. These are my (a little bit spontaneous) votes. It may seem like there is a bit inconsistency between my favourite tracks and favourite albums. Still, this is what I felt when I wrote down my votes today.

Top 10 albums/box sets:

1. Contemporary Works 2

This box set is probably the Klaus Schulze release I have listened to the most. I cannot think of anything weak on these five discs. I can hear new details every time. Beautiful!

2. Kontinuum

This album from his recent years I almost played to death when I got it. Love it!

3. Mirage

Hard to not mention this classic. One of the most famous albums and cover art works by Schulze. And it is very good!

4. Beyond Recall

This album is a bit special to me. The first one I bought by Schulze. Got it when it came out in 1991, and I still love it very much.

5. Timewind

Another classic. Monumental music!

6. En=Trance

A surprise release. It is so good it almost hurts. A lot of great moments on this one.

7. X

Massive double album featuring my absolute favourite track by Klaus Schulze (see below).

8. Trancefer

Pure bliss and beauty. Very nice album.

9. Inter*Face

A rythmic album with great melodies. An album that even non-Klaus Schulze fans may like.

10. Are You Sequenced?

I had to list this one. Klaus Schulze is so sophisticated when it comes to sequencing. Ear candy!

Top 10 individual tracks:

1. Friedrich Niethzsche

I can't describe it properly, but this is a colossal track. I have the LP in order from amazon.de. Can't wait! In the meantime I always have the CD.

2. Dune

The agressive cello "riffs" makes this song. Just a fantastic track!

3. Bayreuth Return

Immense, vast, epic...

4. Thor (Thunder)

No wonder I love the Kontinuum album that much.

5. Die Prophezeiung erfullt sich

Amazing track from the Contemporary Works 2 box set.

6. Crystal Lake

A cold classic!

7. This House Full Of Shadows

Another epic from the Contemporary Works 2 box set.

8. Gringo Nero

As I mentioned, the Beyond Recall album is special to me.

9. Privee

Beautiful sequencing from the first Contemporary Works box set.

10. The Wizard Of Doz

Another sequencer heaven!

  1. Cool!

;-) Takk for listen. :-)

    SvarSlett
  6. Ingen tvil om at de to er unike, Stein. Zeit og Cyborg er monumentale. :-)

  8. Wow, bra respons på denne blog-posten. :-)

Takk for din liste, Henrik! Veldig mye bra du har der. Det blir spennende å se det endelige resultatet. :-)

    1. Cyborg
    2. X
    3. Body Love II
    4. Mirage
    5. La Vie Electronique II
    6. La Vie Electronique I
    7. Blackdance
    8. Moondawn
    9. ...live...
    10. Picture Music

  10. Takk for din liste, Jacob.

  11. Hermed gjort, elektronisk altså :-)
